چکیده
Here we outline a description of paraxial light propagation from modal perspective. By decomposing the initial transverse field into spatial basis whose elements have known and analytical characteristics, are able to analytically propagate any desired field, making calculation fast easy. selecting other than that planes waves, overcome problem numerical artifacts in angular spectrum approach at same time offer an intuitive understanding for why certain classes fields as they do. We concept theoretically, compare it approach, confirm its veracity experimentally using range instructive examples. believe this propagating will be useful addition toolbox optical fields.

Structured-light 3D surface imaging: a tutorial
We provide a review of recent advances in 3D surface imaging technologies. We focus particularly on noncontact 3D surface measurement techniques based on structured illumination. The high-speed and high-resolution pattern projection capability offered by the digital light projection technology, together with the recent advances in imaging sensor technologies, may enable new generation systems f...
متن کاملPropagation properties of non-paraxial spatial solitons
We present an analysis and simulation of the non-paraxial nonlinear SchroÈ dinger equation. Exact general relations describing energy ̄ ow conservation and transformation invariance are reported, and then explained on physical grounds. New instabilities of fundamental and higher-order paraxial solitons are discovered in regimes where exact analytical non-paraxial solitons are found to be robust...
متن کاملBoundary Value Problem for an Oblique Paraxial Model of Light Propagation
We study the Schrödinger equation which comes from the paraxial approximation of the Helmholtz equation in the case where the direction of propagation is tilted with respect to the boundary of the domain. This model has been proposed in [12]. Our primary interest here is in the boundary conditions successively in a half-plane, then in a quadrant of R2. The half-plane problem has been used in [1...
متن کاملBelief Propagation for Improved Color Assessment in Structured Light
Single-Shot Structured Light is a well-known method for acquiring 3D surface data of moving scenes with simple and compact hardware setups. Some of the biggest challenges in these systems is their sensitivity to textured scenes, subsurface scattering and low-contrast illumination. Recently, a graphbased method has been proposed that largely eliminates these shortcomings. A key step in the graph...
متن کاملNonlinear propagation of light in structured media: Generalized unidirectional pulse propagation equations.
Unidirectional pulse propagation equations [UPPE, Phys. Rev. E 70, 036604 (2004)] have provided a theoretical underpinning for computer-aided investigations into dynamics of high-power ultrashort laser pulses and have been successfully utilized for almost a decade. Unfortunately, they are restricted to applications in bulk media or, with additional approximations, to simple waveguide geometries...
